Grundfos wish to retain their strong position amongst its competitors and show their continued commitment to the development of optimized and sustainable products for its customers. A prime opportunity to showcase this is at the ISH trade fair in Frankfurt.

“The ISH provides the world’s biggest showcase for innovative bathroom design, energy efficient heating and air-conditioning technology and renewable energies.” (ISH)

As part of their exhibition, Grundfos displays its “Smart Home”, which shows the company’s visions for products in the future (+1 years). Part of this vision is one of the most exciting pieces of technology to truly emerge in 2016 – Augmented and Mixed Reality.

In order to realize this vision, Grundfos and Unity Studios engaged in close cooperation and designed a story application that would show the interesting possibilities of Mixed Reality by use of the Microsoft HoloLens. This involved making the HoloLens track a large area with high precision, highlight objects of interest, and have it follow a set story structure.

During the experience participants check pumps that display informational holograms, detect leakage, and calls a technician who can perform remote maintenance by guiding the participant through the necessary repair steps. The experience was created for promotional purposes on the trade fair, and gather valuable insights on how people took to the use of Mixed Reality.
